For the time being, I'm going back to my ancient sifter. Two sifts in, you have to hit the side to get the flour to move around, and, worse, its inner gears are either rusting or wearing away to discoloration after only a month of using it every morning for pancakes. I got this sifter because my old one was a last-generation inheritance and on its last legs, but I swear, the old one works better than this one does.
However, several weeks after it arrived it stopped working. After much research on Amazon, I finally chose this as the most likely to work. Do yourself a favor and buy a product that works. And since its been more than 30 days, I can't return it either. The little wheels no longer spin when one squeezes the handle. Lousy quality. It was a gift for my wife who loves to bake.
but when you add in shipping the cost doubles. Sifting is an important step in any recipe that calls for it. This is a great product, and a great price. For all you aspiring cooks out there, when a recipe calls for sifted flour, don't do like I used to do and just just loose measured flour - it isn't the same.
I cannot recommend it enough. I've used this sifter now for nine years and it is absolutely fabulous. Highly, highly recommend. It has such a large capacity that it makes the job a ton smoother. It's easy to use, quite powerful, and the flour, etc. is sifted before you know it. It hasn't the first sign of rust at all after all those years of use, tossing it into the dishwasher, etc.
