GE/Kenmore SmartWater Refrigerator Filter (GWF)
The GE GWF SmartWater Refrigerator filter fits all GE and Hotpoint refrigerators with built-in water filtration systems. This filter replaces old GE part numbers GWF01 (SmartWater), GWF06 (SmartWater Plus), and Hotpoint HWF. It improves the taste and odor of the water and removes the following impurities: 99.97% of Cysts, More than 85% of Particulates (Class I), 99% of Turbidity, 99% of Lead, 98% of Chlorine, 84% of 2,4-D (a common herbicide), 76% of Atrazine (a herbicide), 91% of Lindane (a pesticide), and 99% of Asbestos. GE recommends that you replace the filter every 6 months if your refrigerator is not equipped with a filter status indicator light OR if your refrigerator has a filter status light, the filter should be changed when the light comes on or after one year, whichever comes first OR if the refrigerator has not been used for more than two weeks (for instance, during a move) OR if you notice a decrease in the flow of water or objectionable tastes in the water or ice. NOTE: If you are replacing a Water by Culligan filter FXRC, FXRT, MXRC, Hotpoint HXRT, WR97X10006, or Kenmore part number 46-9905 for the first time you will also need to purchase an adapter. The GWF filter plus adapter is 2 inches taller than the FXRC, FXRT, MXRC, HXRT, so if your top refrigerator shelf is set high (close to the bottom of the filter) then you may want to order the MXRC instead

The product arrived in a timely manner and I am pleased with it. By oredering this product on Amazon.com, it was $5.00 cheaper than ordering directly from GE.
Beware of this bad product description. However, Amazon only ships one filter, not a three-pack, which is what the price would otherwise imply you are buying. This is dishonest. The price given for this product is the the price for a three-pack of water filters from any other vendor.
What a difference. I didn't realise how much sediment my old filter was putting through until I put the new one in. Great product, great service.
Hightly recommend them. So, this new filter, (from Filters Fast) came 5 days before the due date of delivery. So that is why I feel that Filters Fast is worth your time because they make sure that the items you order come with super fast delivery. We needed a water filter because the old one was out of date and was starting to give off black particals in the water when drawn.
