J.A. Henckels Twin Gourmet 8-Piece Steak Knife Set with Box
Friodur Stainless Steel Blades, NOVODUR Handles / Wood Presentation Gift Box
From one of Henckels' moderately priced cutlery lines, these eight steak knives divide any rib eye, chop, or roast into bite-size pieces and then store in a handsome wood box. The thin, curved blades are perfect for precise cutting, although their fine serrations tend to tear meat fibers rather than slice neatly through them. Stamped from high-carbon stainless steel, the knives are lighter in weight than forged knives and don't have bolsters, which might not be essential when confronting a thick prime rib. The synthetic handles feature classic three-rivet styling with full tangs for strength. The storage box is stained a rich auburn. It has brass hinges and snap closures and measures 15-1/4 inches long, 1-3/4 inches high, and 5-5/8 inches wide. The knives are dishwasher-safe and carry a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

J.A. Henckels Twin Gourmet 8-Piece Steak Knife Set with Box Reviews
They are light knives, neat looking (slim) without heavy looking handles, so that you can add to everyday table setting. The saying goes: "You get what you pay for." I needed 8 steak knives yet did not wish to spend $200 or more for only six good quality knives. Henckels Twin Gourmet 8-piece steak knives for less than $100 at Amazon. Wish they were a bit more substantial. Otherwise, okay for everyday usage. Serves the purpose. Therefore I compromised and purchased the J.A.
Super product These knives keep their sharpness and easy storage with the great wood box, no accidental cuts from getting a knife out of a drawer.
Very good knives. Regarding the price, I bought them on sale, and I think that the sale price should be the retail price to make the set a good value. Nevertheless, they were made to cut, and that's exactly what they do. In the description the maker indicates that the knives should be hand washed and dried, and not soaked. That's because the handles are very stain-saturated, if left wet the stain bleeds out onto the blade. Be very careful when washing, I cut myself twice already (the first time I wasn't even aware of it for a few hours).
I looked for them on this site so I could give them as a gift to friends. I have never experienced the "tearing" as described above. I have used these knives for several years and look forward to using them whenever possible.
