KitchenAid Food Processors Reviews
The main reason I'm writing a review, however, is to let you know about the awesome customer support you'll receive if you buy KitchenAid. It is fun to use. All of the sudden the slicing disk was trying to slice the underside of the cover of the unit. They are shipping me a brand new unit, with all new accessories and everything, along with a return shipping label for me to return the broken unit. Order KitchenAid and you'll have an incredibly strong, fun machine to use; and when you get in trouble, their customer support will bail you out. I bought this unit in September and it is so strong and fast that I laugh when I use it. This morning I called KitchenAid and explained the situation. Yesterday I was slicing apples for apple sauce I wanted to make a big batch, so I had 10 big apples ready to slice.
It slices potatoes and apples so fast my boys all line up to watch it work. I put too many in. Guess what. WOW. Argh. It handles big chunks and odd shapes.
I was a little concerned about previous comments stating that the wide tube was useless because of the safety features but I don't think this is really a problem. . I finally took the plunge and bought the Kitchenaid and so far, I am very happy with my choice. There are several functional issues that I am still trying to figure out.
I purchased the KitchenAid KFPW760 a few weeks ago and I am so happy that I did. I have never owned a Cuisinart and so I can't really compare the two brands. The wide mouth and narrow tubes are both very useful features. I get some whole nuts and some finely chopped nuts all in the same batch. I use my food processor regularly throughout the week and I know that I will find even more uses for it in the future. I have tried using smaller amounts but then the work involved no longer makes the processing worthwhile. As I am doing this, I find that the food then falls out the center hole which is a little annoying.
I debated between purchasing the Cuisinart and the Kitchenaid for several months. First of all, the distance between the end of the feet tube and the blade may be a little large because I often find that the last portion of what I am slicing/grating ends up flying around on top of the blade rather than being processed. Thirdly, the center piece that keeps the grater/slicer in place often gets stuck which means that I have to pull out the blade assembly to get at the processed food. However, these concerns are minor and would not deter me from buying this product. Secondly, I can't seem to grind nuts evenly. I like the fact that my Kitchenaid is easy to use and easy to clean.
Another thing, the large feed chute is nice that you can fit big items in there, but you have to be mindful of the max fill line otherwise the safety wont engage and you wont be able to process the food. On the big one, there is a safety latch that is tripped when you have the pusher 1/2 of the way in. Its a good processor. Its not like the smaller chute where you can operate the processor with the chute open. I can't remember exactly, but it was half of what I usually use in my bread recipies so I'm going to have to split my recipies and do them that way.
When I was deciding which one to buy, I was under the impression that the middle sized bowl could be used with the multipurpose chopping blade. Its nice but it is big and there were some things that I was dissapointed about. On the plus side, I do like the attachments it comes with. Looking back, I should have just got a single bowl processor. Used the egg whip a few times to make the eggs nice and well beaten for french toast. Two things I dont like. Besides those things, it is a very good processor.
I like the bread kneader blade, but the instructions say not to go over like 3 or 4 cups of flour. The shredding and slicing disks are nice, I used the little bowl to mix up a little guacamole, came out good. It would have been easier and I really dont like that large feed chute safety. It cannot, you can only use the medium sized bowl with the slicing and shredding disks.
There are only two of us. Get one. We made a sour cream cheesecake. It is truly a wonderful kitchen tool. The ratings and reviews of the KitchenAid made the decision easy.
For years we had been thinking about getting a food processor. We received our 12 cup processor and I immediately went to the recipe section of the manual. We've since made a few other recipes. Many great attachments, easy to use, very high quality and nice and quiet. This cheesecake came out as good as any we've ever tasted.
Watching many cooking shows featuring a processor finally turned the trick.
I have been having lots of fun with it, and hope to try some new recipes in the future. So far this has proven to be a wonderful addition to my kitchen.
