From KitchenAid's Gourmet Essentials line comes this cookware set made of hard-anodized aluminum. Durable, handsomely finished in matte charcoal gray, and known for its exceptional heat distribution and retention properties, hard-anodized cookware is a very popular choice for the home chef. KitchenAid embellishes these pots with stainless-steel handles, riveted for strength and wrapped with cushy, stay-cool silicone grips. The lids, made of break-resistant glass for optimum viewing, also feature silicone-wrapped handles, highly arched to enable easy grasping with a potholder or oven mitt. Both the pans and lids are oven-safe up to 400 degrees F.

An excellent value, this 12-piece set consists of the most frequently used kitchen pots and pans and makes a great gift set. The two skillets, measuring 8 and 10 inches in diameter, handle everyday frying and sautéing needs, from eggs-over-easy to grilled cheese sandwiches to fish filets, then crepes for dessert. Three saucepans holding 1, 2, and 3 quarts let you boil a single egg, heat soup, and slow-cook a creamy risotto with wild mushrooms. The large 8-quart stockpot with two loop handles works admirably for family-sized batches of pasta, chili, soup, and corn-on-the-cob. Finally, the 12-inch covered sauté pan with its helper handle tackles generous quantities of fried chicken, braised meats, stir-fries, and poached salmon. The nonstick finish releases food quickly and makes clean up by hand a snap. It's best to keep the nonstick cookware out of the dishwasher. KitchenAid covers the set with a one-year, hassle-free replacement warranty. --Ann Bieri

KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials 12-Piece Hard-Anodized Cookware Set Reviews

Easy to cook with and cleanup is wonderful. My only minor disappointment is that they are somewhat smaller than my other cookware, but since there are only 2 of us it doesn't really matter. Love the quality of the cookware.

I picked up the large fryer pan (with the lid) and the first thing I noticed was the flexing of the handle. I believe this happened due to the two rivets (which hold the handle onto the pan) being so close together, combined with the rather thin sides of the pan. I found the reviews for this cookware insightful, but with an item such as this, my wife and I wanted to see this product in person first. If I chose to, I could have easily taken handle and it bent it 90 degrees, if not completely off, the pan itself. This was a deal breaker for us, period. It was unacceptable.

The price was better on Amazon, so our intent was to handle the display set first and then purchase it online. We understand that the more you pay, the better quality you get. Overall, the set was nice, but this one issue was enough for us to say no. For cookware under $200, there will be some tradeoff's. We went to our local Kohl's store and found this exact set on sale. Depending on what you cook, food can weigh a lot, and I was not comfortable with a handle that had that much flex.

However, regardless of their stated warranty on the quality, I was disappointed that the handles had any flex at all. Depending on the sale price you get for this set, it could be a good value, but beware of the handles on this set, especially on the large fryers, where more stress is put on handle. We are not going to pay more than $100 for a cookware set with handles like this set has. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed.

I purchased my 12 piece for 139.00 on this website. Happy Cookin. Nothing sticks to the bottom of them which makes cleaning a breeze. I love this pot set.

Note: One of the reviews I read mentioned the build up of grease on the bottom of the pots. And this one fits the description. I hope you love it too. To prevent a major build up I regularly clean the bottom of my pots with Bar Keeper's Friend (Ajax & Comet work just as well). This is an all around Good Buy. I love to cook, its my hobby, so a sturdy, dependable, and yes stylish pot set is a must.

Well as I have found this can be a problem with any pot set no matter how high-end. I saw them just a few days ago for $219.00 and it was the 10 piece set. Wet the bottom of the pot, sprinkle the cleaner on, let sit for 1 or 2 minutes, and then lightly scrub it off with a sponge or rag. The good thing about these pot is that they don't scratch or discolor when you clean them this way like some other pots do. They heat evenly and quickly.

I've had my cookware for two months now and I love itIt really is nonstick, it looks beautiful, and it was delivered much faster than I expected.

I do stack them for storage and I haven't noticed scratches and I DO NOT put them into the dishwasher - I ruined my Revere set that way, hence why I bought these. I've had the set now for a couple of weeks and use them daily. Very easy to clean, the handles do not get hot, and they're not too heavy. Great set for the BRAND and Price. I recommend. Also, I have glass top stove and have not noticed any scratching. As a KitchenAid fan already (I have a few small appliances and of course the stand mixer), I expected this set to be wonderful and it is.
