Le Creuset Stainless Steel Replacement Knob Reviews
The knob comes with a separate screw so you can use it on any cookware that has a hole drilled in it not just Le Creuset. In my case, I used it on a Panini pan lid, so now I can use it in a 500 degree oven for crispy roasted dishes like Pollo Al Mattone. It does the job perfectly and looks great. This stainless knob can be used to ensure Le Creuset cookware can be used in very hot ovens.
It has worked great for us and would recommend it to others. We actually bought this knob for a lodge dutch oven so we could use it in the oven at over 450 degrees (to make no-knead bread with the Cooks' Illustrated Recipe).
I bought this knob and the Tramontina 6.5-qt. I will be buying one of these for my brother-in-law who loves to cook and owns the actual Le Creuset Dutch oven. I think I was in Lowe's for at least a half-hour (with help) finding the right size screw. The tricky part was finding the longer screw that CI said the knob needed. enameled cast iron Dutch oven when I wanted to try the Cook's Illustrated Almost No-Knead bread recipe (oven is heated to 500 degrees).
My husband and I wanted to try the "no knead bread" recipe that so many people have raved about over the last few years but didn't want to risk ruining the black handle on our great LeCreuset pots. as they say it is. PS Google "no knead bread" - or go to the New York Times webpage and look up the article, recipe, and video by Mark Bittman - it really is as easy (and delicious). Great product. At first, we saved the black knobs, thinking we might switch back, but we left these on our Le Creuset products - they're great. I found a store in New York City that sold these knobs (but even 18 months ago, they were more expensive than this new Amazon offer) so I bought some from them.
