Libbey 16-Piece Polaris Glassware Set Reviews
These are quality glasses. I think I nearly tripped over myself rushing to get this package indoors to rip through the box. I must admit that although there are many positive reviews for this item, the one reviewer who wrote that these glasses looked cheap and were of poor quality did ride in the back of my mind as I anxiously awaited my order. My boyfriend recently complained about all of the mismatched glasses in our cupboards and our oversized dish set taking up too much room and how he'd like to just 'throw 'em all out' and start over, so of course - I took that as my invitation to do just that. (The boyfriend loves them too). Beautifully shaped, no defects in the glass and a nice weight that make these glasses feel more expensive than they are.
To the reviewer who wrote that these glasses look cheap and are of poor quality, I can only assume that you must have purchased glasses that were of similar style to these, but not the actual ones advertised here. I love these glasses. I was a little disappointed when I saw the photos on the box (they don't do the glasses any justice), but the moment I pulled the first glass out of the box I knew I had done good. Nothing but smooth, clear, glass. Even the pictures online do little justice to these glasses. The base looks a little frosted in the online photos, but that's just because of the white backdrop.
I ordered two sets, and they both arrived quickly and intact. They're stylish, elegant, substantial, and very low priced. These glasses are exactly what I wanted. They are solid. I like it that they are dishwasher safe. They go with anything from everyday dishes to fine china, and they match my silverware. I showed them to my sister to get her opinion, and she said that they are beautiful. I love them.
They are less than 25% of the cost of the ones I bought at Williams and Sonoma and definitely just as nice. I love the heaviness and the design. I bought these for my office and like them so much, I am buying a set for home.
I needed new glassware to replace what was left of my old set. It was so minor though that I didn't ask for a replacement. My only complaint is that one of the glasses had a slight defect. I really liked the weight and feel of the glasses. The Libbey 16-piece Polaris glassware set turned out to be just what I wanted.
I bought this set because of the great reviews and the low price. (Nice bonus is that so far I don't notice any water spots on them after they're dried). All in all they're a classy and elegant set of glasses that don't look like they cost $20. I was so pleasantly surprised when I opened the box - these Libbey glasses feel very solid and sturdy, and are nice looking as well. When I walked into a Linen and Things a few days later and saw some of the light weight glasses at similar prices, I got nervous that I had maybe ordered a cheap set of glasses.
