Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea Cup and Saucer, Set of 6
Teacup Saucer T Set Of 6
Inspired by 19th-century botanical illustrations, artist Susan Williams-Ellis has created a truly unique mix-and-match collection for Portmeirion. Designed in 1972, Botanic Garden features more than 30 different floral and butterfly designs, with new designs joining the collection on a regular basis. Each scene has been painstakingly reproduced by hand with every detail beautifully rendered. Butterflies flutter about, flowers bend in the breeze, and a distinctive leaf border can be found on each item in the collection. This lovely 12-piece set includes six 7-ounce tea cups and six matching 6-inch saucers. The bowl of each small cup is adorned with a different flower motif and a medley of butterflies, while the signature leaf pattern borders the edge of each saucer. The decorative flower clusters include: cinquefoil, common vetch, harebell, herb robert, sweet violet, and white campion. The Botanic Garden collection incorporates a full line of coordinating table settings, bakeware, serving items, and giftware. Made in Britain from high-quality earthenware, each tableware piece is safe in the dishwasher, microwave, oven, and freezer. --Lea Werbel

Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea Cup and Saucer, Set of 6 Reviews
I bought two of these from Amazon and give them to my close friends as presents. It may be a good idea to look at them at your local store before to make a decision. Cups are cute and precious. But I was looking for a bit special present, it was the one. These cups are not huge and a bit pricey.
Nice size for a good cup of tea. I love the whole set. Each cup has different flowers, all lovely.
Fortunately, many discontinued items can still be found if one searches hard enough. Even the plates, which only have six flowers at any given time have had numerous flowers offered over the years. (my daughter likes it for cereal/soup). I'm giving this a three only because I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them or send them back and search for the older romantic shaped, heavier stoneware (and more expensive) tea cups. This is a new "traditional" style tea cup in a 7oz. Portmeirion introduces and discontinues items within a line, and has done so since they introduced Botanic Garden in 1972. they are trying to come up with something more delicate than the traditional heavy stoneware.
They have discontinued the coffee cup that was 9oz; "Breakfast cup", 12oz (same saucer size as the gravy boat); and Latte cup, 20oz. It replaces the previous 7oz romantic-traditional shape and the original drum shape tea cups. (the original tea pot was drum shape too). They have downsized the tureen.
The price was high in general, as i found them cheaper in a store near home. Internet shopping learning curve for me indeed. i think maybe 6 ozs rather than 12 ozs. Portmeirion Botanic Garden Tea Cup and Saucer, Set of 6. And obviously the saucers are smaller too.
I kept the product but was greatly disappointed. The cup size should be printed, and in fact they cost more than the larger ones. They are considerably smaller than the set i purchased in England.
