R.H. Forschner by Victorinox 3-Piece Fibrox Chef's Set, Molded Handles

R. H. Forschner is a division of Swiss Army Brands, Inc, renowned for the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. These knives are specially ground and tempered so that they can be resharpened over and over again, keeping a sharp edge throughout their lifetime. State of the art technology blended with old world craftsmanship produce cutting instruments of excellent quality, at reasonable prices. Forschner Victorinox Fibrox knives have earned high marks in a well-known cooking magazine which stringently tests kitchen products. These three knives will enable you to handle the majority of kitchen tasks, and you'll save over purchasing them open stock.

This set of three knives from R.H. Forschner by Victorinox makes an excellent gift for the home chef. The 4-inch paring knife adeptly manages most fruit and vegetable peeling, cutting, and garnishing; the 8-inch slicing knife carves the Thanksgiving turkey and other roasts; and the large 10-inch chef's knife tackles a multitude of kitchen chopping, mincing, and slicing tasks. The Fibrox blades are made in Germany and hand-finished in Switzerland. Providing a comfortable grip, the triple-rivet, ergonomic POM (plastic over molded) handles are curved in such a way so as to reduce wrist strain over long periods of use. While the knives are dishwasher-safe, Forschner recommends washing them by hand and covers them with a lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects. --Ann Bieri

R.H. Forschner by Victorinox 3-Piece Fibrox Chef's Set, Molded Handles Reviews

The cut was quick and smooth. So he picked up a piece of paper and sliced at it. I had done a bunch of research before deciding on these knives. It hasn't been a big deal. This is my first set of "real" knives, and they are great. My only slight complaint (and it is really not much of one) is that they are advertised as dishwasher-safe, though hand washing is recommended. He was impressed.

Very comfortable to grip and use, and they are super sharp. My experience cutting tomatoesoften a good testhas been the same. But when the set arrived, its instructions say specifically not dishwasher safe. I wash the knives lovingly by hand. They are definitely a good buy, lots of value for the money. When they first arrived, my roommate ran his thumb over the edge of the chef's knife and expressed skepticism about its sharpness.

I sent these knives to my son for a birthday gift and he says that he loves them.

Buy it with your eyes closed, you won't regret. I just bought this set of knife for my girldfriend as an anniversary gift because she it's about to begin in Chef School next summer, the quality it's amazing, i would recommend this set to everyone.

I know that over time I will adjust for it, but I would have liked more weight I suppose. They are simply that good. I did the same with a ripe tomato. A duller knife won't cut where you expect and can cause injuries that way. All said, this is such a minor setback for how amazing these knives are otherwise.

I purchased these on a budget, and down the road when money isn't an issue, I'll be looking first at Forcshner/Victorinox. A sharper knife is actually a safer knife, since your cuts will be precise. I would just suggest that until you're used to the weight, just be extra careful with the chef's knife. Not impressed. I purchased these with the need for affordable knives, and I saw the perfect review score for this set on Amazon (18/18 reviews at 5 stars). Yes, slicing a tomato with just pressing down.

I figured I couldn't go wrong. These are simply the sharpest knives I have ever used. To give an idea of how sharp these are, I was able to easily slice a bagel without using a saw motion at all. After being used to the Henkels chef knife, this Forschner was startlingly lightweight. For the cost, there is no way you will regret buying them. I've used cheap ones that cheat and use a serration to achieve sharpness, and I've used pricier Henkels and similar. I didn't.

Well, nothing is perfect and unfortunately these knives are no exception. These knives have made so many kitchen tasks so much easier. I'd never been able to do that with the Henkels even after a fresh sharpening. There is a reason why these knives have so many 5 star ratings. What's even better is that for the price of that Henkels chef knife, you get 3 of the most useful knives to have in the kitchen. This price is simply amazing for what you get.

Obviously the most important trait of a knife is how sharp it is.

I don't think anyone would be dissapointed buying these knives. None have come close to these. Cuts through an uncooked potato like a hot knife through butter. We've had umteen different sets of knives through the years.
