Rival 1042W Electric Food Slicer, White Reviews
The regular driver delivered it, a few days later. Only problem was the FedEx driver delivered to wrong address. This food slicer works perfect.
I bought this item upon reading the reviews. Save your money, use an electric knife. Bread is to wide for machine. Bread sticks while trying to slice. Can't Rival 1042W Electric Food Slicer, Whiteexert presure on bread because its too soft, therefore you get a slice thats deformed. Bread gets hunk-up on bottom of blade and you get a deformed slice. I don't know how these users can say this a a good product for bread, it is not.
The size of the machine prevents slicing an entire pork leg at once, you'd want to plan on cutting the large roasts into chunks no bigger than about 6 inch cubes. So far so good, we intend to slice bread next. I suspect the problem in those cases is pushing the food hard onto the flat surface of the blade. Bought for $25 locally, looks flimsy although it slices ham & cheddar well. A light pressure works fine, just enough pressure to hold the food to the blade.
Only rated a 4 because the food tray & the pusher need to be stored separately from the folded base & main body, and because the plastic just *seems* flimsy, and also because the owner's guide does not discuss sources of replacement parts if ever needed. Most parts, including the *very* sharp blade, are easily removable for handwashing. The main section that houses the motor cannot be immersed and can only be wiped, which is not difficult. The gear on the blade is plastic, we've heard they can melt.
It is easy to clean and store. It actually saves money to do so. My husband loves to slice a large sandwich ham from the store.
