I certainly DO NOT recommend this egg topper. I say "Search On." Bothersome. While trying to get the egg out of such a small opening, it is hard not to crush some of the shell into the egg. It does, with some care, cut the tapered end of the egg, but leaves a very small opening which can be used if using a stainless steel egg spoon, which has more traction than a plastic one, but why bother at all since it is so imperfect.
My mother had one of these when I was growing up and like hers, this works great.
One star off because the finger slots are a little sharp inside. I always use it with soft boiled eggs and am happy with it. It works fine as long as you hold your egg firmly and apply a fair bit of pressure while twisting upwards.
It does not cleanly slice/cut off the top of the egg as promised. I had high hopes for this product and all it did was mangle the egg. I have thrown mine away. I would never buy one again. It just sort of mushes it up and gets shell in the egg. There is no padding on the finger holes and they cut into your fingers when you try to use it. The hole is too small to work on large eggs and I am sure that extra large would be out of the question.
To the yard sale goes this gadget, so someone else will waste their time. Don't waste your 5 Bucks.
