I should have bought this long ago, but didn't realize just how much fat would be eliminated from the drippings and broth. Works great. I tried hand washing the separator, but found it much easier and cleaner to run it through the dishwasher. The Trudeau 991105 is very easy to use and made my gravy much healthier. I finally decided to try it after reading the reviews in Cooks Illustrated.
It's supposed to be microwave safe, but I haven't tried that yet. I love the Trudeau Gravy/Fat Separator. I cook a lot and love kitchen gadgetsthe Trudeau is truly a winner. I've given them as Christmas presents. In the past, I naively assumed that fat separators were meant to handle hot liquidsthe separators cracked from the heat. The shape, size, and strainer on this Separator are terrific. I like that it withstands heat from the HOT juices and washes beautifully in the dishwasher.
It works great, seems sturdy, and I am really glad I didn't get a smaller one. I am really excited about my new tool.
When I saw it, I wasn't sure but it works really great. Nice looking and easy to use. For years I've tried to separate fat from drippings before I heard about this fat separator.
